Open world simulation game to simulate the cryptocurrency network

It’s a long time I am trying to find a good game idea to promote BCH/BTC and teach people about them. Animatons, videos and games do a great job to help humans understand concepts. Finally few hours ago, the bulb above me head lighted up. The colour was yellow like in Tom and Jerry. And I was so hyped for quite some time.

Gameplay brief

In this game, each player is supposed to earn BCH primarily by mining it. People should build, harvest power(electricity), craft BCH nodes and miners and connect them together. The is not supposed to be just inspired by Bitcoin. The game is supposed to simulate what is really happening in the network. The difficulty adjustments, the halving, the mining power, the power usage and so on. When all the coins are mined, we rank player based on how many coins they have earned.

Details

A typical gameplay from player’s point of view

In the start, the player has got some initial items like money. He can buy BCH nodes. The mining difficulty is not that much high so the server node also mines BCH. Unfortunately, ASIC hasn’t been invented/manufactured yet. As the game goes on and players add more servers, halvings happen and also difficulty increases. ASICs also enter in the market. People use specialized miners and connect them to the nodes. New challenges start to appear. Like providing enough power, maintaining a sensible temperature, the physical space, distance of miners from the node and so on.

Implementation

Personally, I’ve been active in Luanti community and I also contribute to an FPS strategy game, CTF.

Luanti is a voxel game engine with similarities to Minecraft. The good part is that there are many mods out there for solar panels, power generators, wires and so on. Implementing this game with Luanti is entirely feasible.
