This has long been discussed and has been in my drafts folder for a couple of years. The idea is that we already have a ‘reject’ message when a transaction (or block) is seen by a full node.
This adds an optional ‘accepted’ message that wallets and point of sale systems can use to inspect the status of their transaction instead of being forced to wait until it is mined.
